Filipinos at fullest
Posted
Having many beautiful and lovely places,
Philippines became as one of the best tourist destinations in Asia. Many
foreigners visit different place on the whole year round. Some of them decided
to stay here for good. They usually say that they really fall in love to the
place and to people. It’s good that other races appreciate Filipinos
personalities.
I
was about to log-in my yahoo mail when an article of a Filipina who lives at
United States of America caught my attention. Josienita Borlongan wrote “Filipino Culture: Hospitable, Humble, and Honorable “. It was about the three values which describes Filipinos best.
Being hospitable, humble and honorable,
Pinoys makes a great impact to the foreigners. It is not just simple
characteristics but with a twist. First is for being hospitable. Filipinos
likes their guest in parties or in any celebration to bring home something.
Then, the next is for being humble. Pinoys
always giveback from where they came from. High rate of money remittances
and balik bayan boxes (box full of
goodies) are the evidences. And when receiving praises, instead of saying thank
you, they say that there is someone who is better than him or her. Last is for
being honorable. Rich or poor Filipino values their words. Though sometimes it
is difficult to fulfill promises, they do their best to keep it. Indeed, having
these characteristics make us to go along well with people with different
nationality. For them, living with
Filipinos is very exciting and fun experience.
“It
goes without saying that Filipinos, like any race, are not perfect. We are not
claiming to be the best. Treat us fairly and you will find a true friend who
will be with you through thick and thin,” she said. Filipinos value friendships
as they value their families. If a genuine friendship is at stake, they can
easily forgive but they never forget. Though they are not the perfect, they try
to be the best for his of her family and friends.
We
only live in one planet. We need each other to do all the things we want to
achieve. Maybe, it is the time for us to be as friendly as Filipinos—people who
are willingly to give everything for the people he of she care the most.
